Settings: SMTP Settings

The SMTP Settings section allows you to configure an external Simple Mail Transfer Protocol SMTP server. This can be used by the Next Generation Hardware Appliance to send email notifications.

To configure an External SMTP Server follow the steps below:

Connection Settings

1. Log in to the Next Generation Hardware Appliance.

2. Open the Settings page.

3. In the section SMTP Settings, Connection Settings,
   enter the IP address or FQDN of your SMTP Host.

4. Enter the Port to be used for your SMTP Port.

5. Next you have to define the Authentication Configuration.

Authentication Configuration

There are two options:

• No TLS Connection

• Use Start TLS

No TLS Connection

1. If no secured TLS connection to your SMTP host is required, leave the Use StartTLS check box unchecked.

2. Proceed to test the connection between the Next Generation Hardware Appliance and the SMTP host. Click Test SMTP Connection.

3. This can take several seconds. The current status will be displayed in a message.

4. After completion, a table with information about the connection to the SMTP server appears.

TLS Connection

• If a secure TLS connection to the SMTP host is required, select the Use StartTLS check box.

• Enter the username for the SMTP User.

• Enter the password in SMTP Password.

• Next upload a CA Bundle. This is required for your SMTP server to be trusted. 

• Proceed to test the connection between the Next Generation Hardware Appliance and the SMTP host. Click Test SMTP Connection.
  The procedure is identical to the one described above for No TLS connection.

Mail Queue Settings

The maximum number of mails to be placed in the queue can be specified here. This is only relevant if the upstream mail server is not available.

E-mail delivery from the Next Generation Hardware Appliance is deactivated by clearing the Enable Mail Delivery check box.

Emails will still be queued until mail delivery is turned on again.

Confirm with Save Settings.
