HSM Slot Restore

The local HSM restore is only available if a HSM Backup Device is connected. The local HSM restore is triggered from Webconf for each slot individually and can only be applied to initialized and active Luna HSM slots. Use the same domain PED Key to be able to restore a backup.

In the HSM Backup Management the serial number of the backup device that has been used for the last backup is displayed.

For the following procedure, make sure to connect the backup device containing the backups you want to restore. Have the required PED Keys within reach.

  1. Log in to your Next Generation Hardware Appliance.

  2. Open the Security page.

  3. In the HSM Backup Management section select the backup device that contains the backups to be restored.

  4. In the Action column click Restore Slot from Backup HSM.

  5. The HSM Guided Slot Restore window opens. Two slot lists are displayed:

    1. Backup HSM #xxxxxx with all created backup slots and the timestamp when the backup was created.

    2. Luna PCI HSM with all available target slots and their status.

  6. From the Backup HSM list, select the slot backup to be restored.
In the Luna PCI HSM list, select a target slot to be used for the restore.

  7. Provide the PIN of the target slot.

  8. Click Next Step to open the summary.

  9. Click Start Setup to start the HSM Slot Restore.

  10. Follow the prompts and attend to the backup device. Run through and Finalize the HSM Slot Restore.

Once the restore has been successfully completed, the restore will be displayed in the Recent Activities section on the Overview page in Webconf.
