Operating the Front Panel of the Next Generation Hardware Appliance
Buttons next to Front Display
There are 4 buttons available for making settings via the front display:
Start from left top, left down, right top, right down:
🔼 Up, move up in the front display menu, or when changing digits,
the next higher number is displayed
đź”˝ Down, move down in the front display menu, or when changing digits,
the next lower number is displayed
Cancel/N0
OK, confirm if OK is displayed or move 1 digit forward on front display.
If a ▶️ appears in the front display, on the top right corner: press to show more information.
Power ON the Device
Press the Power button.
Device booting…… is shown in the front display.
This may take 1-2 minutes. During this process, the red LED next to the power button flashes.When this is done the front display shows: Device ready.
Default Entries in the Display
Factory Reset
This is the initial message when the appliance is powered up the very first time, or when an HSM alarm has been triggered.
The display shows Factory Reset
OK?OTP (One Time Password)
Make a note of the OTP. It will be needed later for the first login.
During the user access management on a later point of time, the OTP user will get removed and is no longer displayed on the front display.Firmware Version
Displays the current firmware version of the appliance.TLS (Transport Layer Security) Fingerprint
Shows the TLS fingerprint to verify the integrity of appliance.IPv4 Address
Shows the configured IPv4 address.IPv6 Address
Shows the configured IPv6 address.Edit IPv4 OK?
This entry has sub menus available to edit the IPv4 configuration of the appliance.
Reboot from Front Panel
To start a Reboot process:
Press the Power button.
Two options
Reboot and
Shutdown are shown on the front display.Select Reboot by pressing the UP/ DOWN buttons
press to confirm
the message in the front display changes to:
Reboot? No Yes
press to confirm.
If cancel is selected, the reboot process will not be started.After confirming the front display will show Reboot triggered, then Rebooting…
This may take 1-2 minutes.
While the device is rebooting you can not connect to Webconf!Next the front display will show Device booting…
Once the process is complete, Device ready appears on the front display.
Webconf is now accessible again.
Shutdown from the Front Panel
To start a Shutdown process:
Press the Power button.
Two options
Reboot and
Shutdown are shown on the front display.Select Shutdown by pressing the UP/ DOWN buttons
After making your selection, press to confirm.
The message in the front display changes to:
Shutdown? No Yes
Press to confirm.
The front display will show Shutting down… during the process.if No is selected, the shutdown process is not started
Factory Reset State
The very first time the appliance is started up, the following message appears on the front display:
Factory Reset
OK?
Depending on the hardware, this standard message appears after approx. 1 to 2 minutes.
Resetting to factory settings will delete all HSM settings.
Alarm State
If you press the External Erase button on the appliance with a configured HSM, it will go in an Alarm State.
The front display shows:
Factory Reset OK?
Press to perform a factory reset and get back to Factory Reset State.
The message in the front display changes to:
Are you sure? No Yes
After confirming the message in the front display changes to:
Reboot triggered
During this process the appliance will reboot.Optional: Resetting to Factory Reset State can also be carried out in Webconf as soon as an alarm is triggered by pressing the External Erase button on the back of the appliance.
The External Erase button must not be pressed for longer than 5 seconds.
Otherwise the HSM will be destroyed and must be replaced.
