Set up IP Addresses and get One-Time Password (OTP)

To get started with the Next Generation Hardware Appliance, it is always necessary to set up the IP Address. It does not matter whether you:

  • restore from a backup,

  • after resetting the device,

  • or when setting up a new device.

At this stage, the type of installation must already have been decided:

Set up IP Address and get One Time Password (OTP)

After starting the appliance, the OTP is shown on the front display by default.
Use the up and down buttons on the front panel to scroll through the menu and to obtain the OTP (note it down).

On the Next Generation Hardware Appliance the IP Address (IPv4) is to be set on the front display. Choose one of the following options:

  • IPv4: DHCP

  • IPv4: Static

  • IPv4: Disabled

IPv6 can be seen, but not set via the front panel. To configure it use the Network section in Webconf.

The timeout for a setting is only 30 seconds. As soon as operation on the front display is interrupted for longer than this time, the display returns to the start message!

Change the IPv4 Address of the Next Generation Hardware Appliance via front display:

  1. To the right of the front display of the device, there are four buttons for operating the display:
from the top left, bottom left, top right, bottom right:
    Up, Down, Cancel, Enter
Please see Operating the Front Panel.

  2. Scroll to Edit IPv4 on the display pages by using the Up/Down buttons.
To enter the sub menu press (tick).

  3. Make a note of the Management Interface IP Address. You will need it to connect to the Next Generation Hardware Appliance via Webconf.

Static

  1. Choose IPv4 *Static* and press (tick) to edit (or (error) to cancel).

  2. In this sub menu the following options are shown:

  • IP Address

  • Gateway

  • Prefix

  1. Select IP Address with (tick) to edit its value. The cursor starts at the first digit of the first byte of the IP Address.

  2. Press the Up and Down buttons to adjust the number to your destination IP Address.

  3. Press (tick) to confirm this digit. The cursor moves to the next digit.

  4. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for each digit.

  5. If you confirm the last digit with (tick) , you will be asked you to confirm the IP address, which is displayed without leading zeroes.

  6. Press (tick) to confirm the new IP Address.
You can also cancel this process at any time by pressing the (error) button.

  7. To establish the connection of the Hardware Appliance, the Gateway and Prefix also needs to be set correctly. Select it in the sub menu and follow the steps above to change the digits.
