Hardware Appliance 3.16 Release Notes
JUNE 2025
We are pleased to announce the release of the EJBCA Hardware Appliance and SignServer Hardware Appliance version 3.16.
With this release, we have added support for migrating installations with smart card activation on HSM slots from the Legacy Hardware Appliance to the Next Generation Hardware Appliance.
The release also includes updated versions of EJBCA Enterprise and SignServer Enterprise.

Migration Support for Smart Card-Activated HSM Installations
As of version 3.16, it is possible to migrate all installations that have smart card activation on HSM slots to the Next Generation Hardware Appliance. For more details, see Migration to Next Generation Hardware Appliance.

Hardware Appliance Support Update
We are announcing important changes to the support lifecycle for Keyfactor EJBCA and SignServer Hardware Appliances.
With the industry-wide migration to post-quantum cryptography, we will discontinue support for all legacy Hardware Appliances as of December 31, 2026.
