Upgrade

Depending on the platform and version, you can either upgrade in-place or uninstall and reinstall your Agent:

In-place Upgrade: In-place upgrades preserve the configuration. On some Linux RPM versions, in-place updates are not supported and might leave the Agent in an inconsistent state.

Uninstall/Reinstall: When uninstalling the Agent, the existing configuration is purged. You need to run signum-util setup again after the new installation. However, the uninstall process does not remove any configuration stored on the keychain. If you want to ensure the configuration is deleted, run signum-util logout before uninstalling.

Platform

Recommended Upgrade Procedure

Windows

In-place upgrade.

macOS

In-place upgrade.

Linux DEB (Ubuntu, Debian)

In-place upgrade with dpkg -i.

Linux RPM (RHEL, AlmaLinux, Rocky)

For versions 4.30.4 to 4.70.1, perform a complete uninstall and new installation. An in-place upgrade is not safe.

From version 4.80.1, upgrade in-place using rpm -Uvh.

From version 4.90.1, a new Windows Agent is available for download. The Agent requires an uninstall of the legacy Windows Agent and a brand new installation.

For the supported Agents for your server version, see Supported Versions.

In-place Upgrade

Access the Agent binaries from the Signum SaaS Portal.

  1. Download the new .pkg package.

  2. Click on the package to install.

  3. Follow the installer guide to complete the Agent installation.

See Install Agent.

Linux DEB

To upgrade:

sudo dpkg -i keyfactor-agent.deb

To fix any missing dependency:

sudo apt install -f

Linux RPM (version 4.80.0 and higher)

To upgrade:

sudo rpm -Uvh keyfactor-agent.rpm

Uninstall Agent

macOS

From macOS Agent version 4.80.1, uninstall the Agent using a script located in the contents of the Signum Agent application. For macOS Agent versions 4.70.1 and earlier, uninstall by removing the .app folders.

Because the uninstall script requires sudo privileges, run the script from the command line:

sudo "/Applications/Signum Agent.app/Contents/Resources/uninstall.sh"

Expected output:

→ Stopping LaunchDaemon
→ Unregistering CTK token extension
→ Removing LaunchDaemon plist
→ Removing /Applications bundles
→ Removing /usr/local/bin/signum-util symlink
→ Removing /Library/Keyfactor/Signum (dylibs, libpkcs11)
→ Removing /etc/keyfactor (config, agentIds, certificate caches)
→ Removing per-user data (~/.keyfactor, ~/Library/Containers/com.keyfactor.agent.token, App Group container)
→ Done. Signum Agent uninstalled.

Linux DEB

To uninstall:

sudo dpkg -r keyfactor-agent

For a fresh installation:

sudo dpkg -i keyfactor-agent.deb

Linux RPM (versions 4.30.4 to 4.70.1)

To uninstall:

sudo rpm -e keyfactor-agent

For a fresh installation:

sudo rpm -i keyfactor-agent.rpm
