HSM Reset

To perform a HSM reset, the option must first be activated via the front of the device (this requires physical access to the Next Generation Hardware Appliance). This function is shown in a sub-menu on the front display and is always available. To prevent an unintentional HSM reset, various queries must be run through.

• HSM reset deletes all partitions and their contents and resets all roles and policy configurations.

• Make sure to disconnect the Luna Backup HSM device from the appliance before resetting it.

To put the HSM back into operation, the HSM must be completely reconfigured.

On the front panel:

1. On the front-panel use the arrow keys to navigate to:

2. HSM Reset
   OK? use the ✔️ button to confirm
   HSM Reset
   Are you sure? NO use arrow key to go to YES and use the ✔️ button to confirm.
   The HSM is zeroized.

3. A Factory Reset is now offered on the front display.
